Hello everyone,
Welcome to Issue #13 of Cargobike Culture!
For this issue, I’m afraid to say that I wasn’t able to finish the writing I wanted to do. Its been a very busy week here in Utrecht and the article I’m working on about gender and ethnicity disparity in the cargobiking industry deserves more time. So instead of rushing it, I’ve decided to push it to next week.
In more exciting news, did you see the new logo at the top?
Cargobike of the week
This issue’s cargobike of the week is a Bullitt spotted in our local park.
Whilst super common is lots of cities, I hardly ever see a Bullitt in Utrecht. It was owned by Utrechter, a new subscriber Jan Aren! He told me he chose the Bullitt because he needed a non-electric cargobike, and as I wrote about in issue 6, there aren’t many companies making them anymore.
Quarterly update
One of my favourite newsletters is Cafè Anne. It’s the newsletter that inspired me most to start this one, and Anne was a big inspiration for me. Every quarter, she gives her subscribers a little behind the scenes update and since we’re 13 issues along our journey, I thought I’d give it a try.
In Cargobike Culture’s first quarter, we’ve gained 221 subscribers, of which 9 are paid members (❤️). Most readers are from America with 88 subscribers across 22 states. The UK is the second highest group with 48 people.
The most popular post this quarter was issue 3’s interview with BBC News correspondent, and cargobike aficionado, Anna Holligan. The least popular post was issue 2, where I spoke to our friends and neighbours about how they make use of the shared cargobikes in Utrecht. Though, went I published that issue, the newsletter only had about 20 subscribers, so maybe go back and take a look if you missed it!
